Arrowhead Lakes Resort
On Saturday, Apr. 16th we all woke up after a pretty good sleep. Gibbs didn’t move until we did, around 6:20, although I did hear him barking at 2:30. There are a lot of loud redneck vehicles around here! Ha ha, seems the noisier the better. π I walked briefly with Gibbs around the lot and checked out the store times and when I discovered it was open, went up for bread, bananas and ice.
Nice sunrise from the Walmart parking lot
We were pulling out at 8 on a beautiful sunny day, 43F/6C, onto I-70E with John in the lead this morning.
We won't have this view for very long We part company soon enough |
We would part company today, saying goodbye at our first
fuel fill up. ☹ John found a Marathon station about
an hour after pull out and we still followed each other to the next Rest Area
in Indiana. Our time zone changed once more and now we are on par with home,
EST.
Enjoy the day's journey with us
This is the 2nd of 3 large crosses on this return journey
We are in good hands. πΌπΌLoved this purple field, clover?
The water tower has had a porcupine incident, I think
They were making their brunch so we left them to it, heading out on our own back onto I-70E. It's a bit sad to say goodbye but we'll see them at home in a few days. π
We both needed a Rest Area and it was a second hug goodbye |
It was easy enough to catch I-465S/E/N and then our Exit 44B back onto
I-70E. It was very smooth. This road is terrible and as much as we say that
we’ll not travel it again, it is the most direct route and which other ones are
any better along here? We cringe on the bumps and bounces and deal with what’s
happened inside on each stop.
Some of the key directions that we followed today
Bill
commented on how we went from bud, blossoms and some leaves on trees in
Arkansas and Missouri to few blossoms and no trees in bud yet in Indiana and
Ohio. Yep, we’re heading East back into our native surroundings and it will be
even less and later bloomers back home. π We are enjoying the countryside in all states, and the
changes are always interesting if not beautiful.
I thought the outlet store was original Warm Glow - what a great name! these beautiful white blossoms were the day's bloomers |
When we
caught I-75N, the roads were improved and at least with travelling on a
Saturday, the construction workers were invisible today. I think it’s a ploy;
they put out traffic cones and signs so travellers don’t grumble too much about
the roads. It makes it look as if they are actually ‘fixing’ them! Ha ha, such
a negative Nancy, aren’t I? (No offense to the Nancy’s out there!)
We remember this beautiful pond, it would be lovely at the Ridge
Left: flags showing our side wind from the north for a while
Right: field of solar panels reminding us of our corner at home
Bill
tried yesterday afternoon, after office hours, to call our park in Wapakoneta,
Ohio to make reservations for a couple of nights. We need to slow down and
Arrowhead Lakes Resort is always welcoming and a good stopover. We couldn’t get
through on the weekend so took our chances and drove here anyway. There is a
Walmart down the road as well as a KOA. The latter was scary because they are
charging over $70/night. It would have been a last resort let me tell you!
More beautiful blossoms
Bottom picture, I love the house but again - it should be on the Ridge!
Thankfully,
it wasn’t necessary. We were welcomed with open arms but it did surprise us
since it was Easter weekend. The place is busier than I’ve ever seen it. We
were directed to the very back section, #136, where I’ve only walked before.
I’ve never seen rv’s back this far but we are quite happy snuggled in between a
couple of smaller rv’s. π Hookups! The lady in the office even
offered us her fridges in the office/clubhouse if we need to use them. ♥
Welcomed into Ohio
Our ππ are thinking of home now that we're this close
We were
set up just after 3:30 and I could feel some relief to be able to relax for two
days. Gibbs was quite playful when we came inside and then konked out on the
kitchen floor. The sun is shining and it is a pleasant 54F/12C. The good news
is that our fireplace works still, after that surge back in Yuma so we’ll keep
tonight’s chill off with that and with our Blue Flame. 28F/-2C is new for us on
this trip!
I'll get the park's Entrance sign tomorrow
"Um, excuse us, we're driving here!" How rude! π
Practice for driving up the Ridge laneway, I guess
This is a pretty park
For
supper, Rosy heated up coated chicken strips. I almost threw them out,
forgetting that they were already cooked, so now I’m glad I didn’t. I had 3 pkgs.
of 3 or 4 each so we had 2 packs tonight and I know if they are kept cold, the
other pack will make a meal another time. We had enough leftover mixed
vegetables from last night so it was a pretty easy supper.
Supper was not only colourful, but quite good! Two crashes today
One, the over the door light bulb shook loose and crashed
Two, the little puppy dog after he ate his supper - crashed
My sister
texted that they were going to Cracker Barrel tonight for supper so we’re not
speaking to them. π Ha ha, just kidding. We all talked
about how we love C.B. but there wasn’t a close one to where we stopped any of
our 4 nights. Oh well, I’m glad they’re enjoying their last night in the U.S.
They cross back to Canada tomorrow at some point. ♥
Our front view, that's the laundry and a clubhouse
and our back view, a tree beginning to budHere we are! Feeling relaxed tonight
with no where to go tomorrow unless we want to
We loaded
the dishwasher tonight, making it easy on ourselves. Hookups are wonderful, in
our book. π It will be a quiet evening, although
I may put in one of my favourite movies up in the bedroom. Another wonderful
day and now we are on EST, same as back home.
Good night from Ohio! |
Thank you
for stopping by and I hope your Easter weekend is going ‘hoppingly’ well!
Welcome to our state. Looks like a nice park. I hope you have a relaxing stay which is always nice after a few days on the road. We are happy to boondock when we need to, but hookups are wonderful. Being self contained comes in handy at times. Love the puppy pictures. We have two grand dogs and they are fun. Happy Easter and safe travels.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Becky, for the welcome. This is a nice park and we visit it a fair bit.
DeleteI do love hook ups, won't deny it, even though it means less privacy.
The puppies are a joy. π€π
Wishing you both a Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteYou should check out Wapakoneta. It is quite an interesting little town.
This will give you time to use up some of your food stocks so they don't spoil.
I recall the Gas Bar near the Walmart as having the lowest Diesel Prices in town.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Thank you, Rick, same Easter wishes back to you and Kathy.
DeleteWe've been here a number of times and have checked out the offerings of Wapakoneta. The museum is very interesting.
Happens that we got the cheap diesel there today.
I had a great long chat with my cousin near Delhi tonight. She was telling me the maples are all shedding their flowers there. Not even started our way. Spring will greet you in a few days.
ReplyDeleteSpring is always interesting and seeing it in different stages on the way home is fun. Then we see it starting all over again back home!
DeleteThat was a perfect dandelion in yesterday's post.
ReplyDeleteWe turned north at Indianapolis yesterday so I knew you would pass by and end up further east today...π I will second the not ready for this cooler weather. I do not know what state you were talking about with the construction signs but we do believe Indiana just puts them out for fun. Enjoy your stop. Happy Easter!
Dandelions mean more to me now because of you. ❤ so know that you are thought of often even when i wish they wouldn't clutter up the lawn!! π
DeleteI think it was Indiana.
Happy Easter. Nice if the park to fit you in and offer a fridge. Might as well take a break and find your own Cracker Barrel!!! It will give you time to reorganize your fridge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nancy, same to you.
DeleteToo far to drive to a C B. But u like your thinking! Haha. Not much left in the fridge to reorganize!!
Nice that you are getting a little break in your travels.
ReplyDeleteThank you, we feel exactly that way!
DeleteLooks like your rolling along just fine. Do you crochet or knit as you travel or are you the
ReplyDeleteco pilot? Ha. You must be hankering for home by now. Do you own the property on the
ridge so you could eventually build a home if you wanted to?
Hope you find a Cracker Barrelπ
I am a co-pilot and navigator while we drive but do start my blog on the road and can still play my phone scrabble games and wordle.
DeleteThanks Linda A.
Happy Easter Bill, Patsy and Gibbs.π°
ReplyDeleteThank you Loree. Same to you and Ron and Freddy. And the kitty.
DeleteHappy Easter!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you both will enjoy a day without driving and Gibbs will too.
Happy Easter to you too!
DeleteThe break is wonderful!
Happy Easter to you three! I would love to have seen what's inside Warm Glow! Beautiful shop! The park you're at looks lovely, a little rustic look! Love the cross and the prickly water tower! lol.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Happy Easter to both of you as well.
DeleteIt sure looks like a neat shop!
Nice park, once i swam here, indoor pool, but it was Easter then too and too many little people.
Happy Easter. Just relax and enjoy!Elva
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Elva and Jerry. okay well do that!! π
DeleteHappy Easter to your both and little Gibbs!
ReplyDeleteThank you Marlene, and to you, Benno, Reggie and Elsa
DeleteHappy Easter! Safe trip the rest of the way.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you both and thank you!
DeleteOur snow ended around 1 today, but it deposited about 5 more inches. Hopefully this will all melt before the next snow event in about 7 days or so.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter.
God bless.
Yeuch! Don't send it our way please. That would be too much of a shock to my system! haha
DeleteHappy Easter, Jackie.
