Yuma Lakes Resort to Roadrunner BLM, La Paz Valley, Az
On Monday, Apr. 11th our wake-up time was normal, before 7. Gibbs and I went for our walk and meandered down by the lake again. It is nice for both of us, seeing the water which is somewhat cooling. Actually, this morning was beautiful for walking again. 59F/15C. Gibbs still didn’t go in the water but he got close at one point and jumped back. π
Whatever that bird is, he's back this morning on the
same branch πA new palm on the bank of the lake
The main tree is about 10' up on the hillGibbs seems quite happy along here without
getting his feet wet
I'm surprised!
Must be good fishing here I've seen lots of fishermen |
Now these are Coots!
White beak is the tell
Bill dumped and flushed tanks, added fresh water to half full and then we made our tea and coffee. Yes, we figured out a way to have a coffee. It isn’t perfect but Bill missed his morning brew. He went out next to put our mat, barbecue, satellite dish while I worked away inside. We were both surprised when Vic, our mobile repair guy, called and said he was on his way. It was only 8:30 so that beat his original ‘late morning, early afternoon’ timing. Yay! π
Time to hit the road! |
Once in the Yuma Proving Grounds, I tried many times to take a picture of the Blimp This is the only one that worked, too much glare on the windows Look up, way up! |
I tried so hard to capture the beautiful flowering Ocotillo for Deb. D. I know she's missing them about now.♥ |
The landscape changed a number of times No more Palm trees but Saguaros, Ocotillos and Cholla cacti were making appearances |
I just can't enough of this landscape Although, I also enjoy our home country landscapes too |
He was at
our place before 9 and I took Gibbs to the dog park so Bill could talk to him
without distracting barking. LOL So I don’t mess up the explanation and so Bill
doesn’t have to write a new post, here is his version of what we’ve discovered
in the resolution. After checking through our Suite, he could find no
electrical faults. We determined that it was the campground electrical post
where the problem started.
They did
that by using our generator first, then the inverter and lastly by plugging
into our neighbours rv. Everything
worked fine inside by testing those 3 sources but once we plugged into the
post, the fridge light blinked continuously and the microwave light/clock went
out. Obviously, it was the park’s fault. You may ask, ‘will they accept the
blame and pay for our repairs?’ and the answer to that is a resounding ‘No!’,
they didn’t even admit to the fault.
Back to Roadrunner BLM
You are allowed to stay here for 14 days before
you have to move on
sometimes, they check, sometimes they don't
We’ve
held our heads high and will remember that. π At 11 am, we pulled out of Yuma Lakes RV resort and reached
the now familiar Roadrunner BLM down the road from Quartszite. This time, we’re
headed in the right direction but I sure did enjoy the pool every day. ♥ It’s a cooler day forecasted
today, in Yuma and here in the desert. The winds are incredibly strong, or so
it seems, but we are grateful.
Do you see a good boy? I see a good boy! π
Once we
were settled, (jacks down, slides out etc.) we drove over to La Posa South to
reconnect with my sister and hubby. Then a quick trip into town for fuel, a
couple of food items and more ice. We are buying about 28 lbs. per day. Our
meat is thawing so I’m not as good as packing the ice as I’d hoped but if
nothing else, we’ll be sharing our freezer fare on the way home. LOL
We didn't go quite as far this time
It's just for one night and our door is facing northeastLots of neighbours, as you can see π
I sure hope they aren't noisy
Tonight,
we’ll have sausages for supper, cooked indoors. Now that we know the generator
will run our appliances (we didn’t want to do this if there was a Suite short),
I feel a whole lot better about our meals. We are all back on track, we’ll meet
with Gayle and John in the morning at the entrance to La Posa South and then
head off together. ♥ They will be helpful to us by
perhaps making coffee for us in the mornings and freezing our ice packs each
evening. π Seems a fair trade.
Bill took the surge protecting power bar
apart, yup, she's burnt!
It saved our stereo etc. so it is a hero!I rekindled an old method of cooking sausage
In the frypan on the stove
They were delicious on a bun with mustard, sauerkraut and pickles. π
This is
an early sign off, no more pictures and no more stories for today. We’re
enjoying the breeze coming through our home. Gibbs has been good all day, a
little mischievous while in their Montana, but pretty good. Finally, now at 4
pm, he has found undisturbed sleep for the first time today. He has had so much
going on! π
He has been sleeping lot since we got home from town. Such a hard day! What a little sweet bum!π Good night! |
Thanks
for your continued support as we move forward. Your comments have been very
much appreciated. ♥
YL has always had low voltage & problems with electrical. We were members for over 25 years. Plus the only have 30 amp service. We had to always watch our electrical use. Glad you are able to use your generator. Hope you are able to get your refrigerator fixed when you get home. We had a power surge here at home one year & lost our circuit board on washer & dryer & one other electrical appliance . That convinced us to get a 50 amp serge protector . Now if amps go below 105 it will shut off electric. It also will cut off if it goes to high. It was worth the price for us but not everyone likes them. Travel safe.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rita for your comment. All good information. We need to get a surge protector. π
DeleteOh dear that sure sucks. One of the first things it was suggested we buy when we started RVing was a 50amp surge protector. We did and we used it at the electric post faithfully. It was worth the hefty price for peace of mind. We also have one installed in our sticks and bricks home. Maybe something to consider.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! We will be investing in one. Our dealer didn't push them, i wish we hadn't listened to his advice.
DeleteCan't tell you how many times my EMS system told me there was a problem, either an open ground, low voltage or something ... and the RV park wouldn't believe it. Everyone else is fine they say ... only because they were lucky and didn't have an EMS system to tell them how bad it was. SO happy most everything is okay. I probably wouldn't be staying there again! The first thing I bought for this rig was another 50 amp EMS surge protector. Not all that convenient to work with ice for the fridge, but luckily you are traveling with another rig!! Have a great trip ... Kudos to Gibbs for being a good little boy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nancy, it is the way to go for sure.
DeleteSo glad you now know the problem but how sad that they wouldn't accept responsibility.
ReplyDeleteThank you, it is sad.
DeleteSad indeed but not at all surprising!
ReplyDeleteYup, which makes it even more sad! :)
DeleteWell, isn't that shame - it seemed like a good spot for you, especially with the pool. Hopefully they ensure that the pole gets taken care of before the next RV pulls into that spot.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels!
We won't take that spot again, that's for sure! :0
DeleteGlad you figured out part of the problen anyway. Sorry you had to leave the pool behind.
ReplyDeleteTough to leave the pool for sure, already having withdrawals.
DeleteThank you F.G.
Oh darn that's too bad and that they won't take responsibility but certainly not surprising. We've talked about the surge protector and just haven't done it yet. Glad it looks like you'll be traveling with your sister :) Nice little sandwich for dinner!
ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate but apparently if we were members of CRA, they would cover our costs. Unless that is just a rumour.
DeleteShould be a good trip home for as much as we travel together. :)
Sorry about the refrigerator but it could have been worse. Sounds like your rig is OK. Safe travels.
ReplyDeleteThank you and you are absolutely right! Always, things could be worse.
DeleteAww, too bad the park will not admit to their problem. I bet they end up losing a few campers that way. Glad that your generators work and you can still cook. Yep, surge protectors are very necessary.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you, their regular members will be back, it's a nice park otherwise. :)
DeleteSurge protector is on the list!
Thank you for thinking of me. I am missing the Ocotillos. Plus, the Saguaros, the mountains in the distance, and the openness of the desert. Certainly recognized your drive I never get tired of it. But like you I also love the landscape of home and we are now enjoying the green as we get closer.
ReplyDeleteSad the park would not admit to the their problem.
Safe travels to you, Bill, Gayle and John.
thank you Deb and you're welcome! I can't look at an Ocotillo, especially, without thinking of you. ♥
