Yuma Lakes RV Resort
On Sunday, Apr. 10th we seem to have found a new morning routine. Our routine seems to change in every new place and in every circumstance. I suppose everyone’s does. So, we were up before 7 and Gibbs and I went for our walk. It was a different direction today. We walked up over the hill to the main entrance road, then down the other side to the lake. π
I don't know who the artist is, but these
natural horses have been here for as long as we've been coming
Original or what?
It’s very
pretty and I wanted to see Gibbs’ reaction. He was so busy sniffing around that
it took him awhile to notice the water and even then, didn’t show too much
interest. He stuck his nose in but that was enough. There was a family of black
and white ducks but different than what I found on Coots, so I don’t know what
they are. They weren’t too timid with us around but did move on down as we
walked their way.
I like how the top picture turned out
kind of two dimensional because of the sun
What are these ducks?
Gibbs was
very good with them which is great since we will have ducks and geese back home
walking and swimming around our pond. From there we walked down the long
stretch of the park to the big dog park. He was alone but did his sniffing and
a few times, ran the gamut from one end to the other and around the obstacles.
Sadly, there was no available water at this dog park, and I don’t usually carry
any on my walk. We didn’t stay long.
There's also a large bird in that dead tree ??
Mama takes her family away from the intruders (us)
Back
home, I boiled the kettle and we had tea together. The Suite was closed up
again right from 8 o’clock and after sorting the laundry, I drove up to get 2
loads on the go. No one seems to do their laundry on the Lord’s Day but I do! π When I returned after loading the washers and stepped
inside, I could tell that we were doing a wise thing by keeping blinds and
windows closed on these hot days.
Bill went
up on the roof when I left and washed the solar panels with the hose. He said
they weren’t as bad as he thought they’d be. The rain at Park Place RV must
have helped with that. I returned with the laundry finished just before 10 and
we put our clean clothes away. We’re good now until we get home. Another ‘new’
ritual for us is picking up bags of ice, daily, so Bill drove up and bought 2
for starters.
Testing the waters, literally
It's bigger than my pool Mom
We still
had a fair bit of ice in the bags in the freezer but the fridge ones were
mostly melted. 2 bags filled 5 large ziplock bags and they lay nicely in the
crispers and also stand beside the milk and pop easily. We sat together and
read our books, Bill is reading the James Patterson NYPD Red that I just
finished. It’s a good one and he likes to get hooked right from the get-go like
I do. J.P.’s books are great also because the chapters are short and it makes
it easy to deal with other distractions. π
He just stood and watched the ducks
That is a positive thing, no barking to disturb them either
We had
apples and cheese for lunch again, it seems to fill us and tastes good. These
Gala apples are yummy! Another ritual here in this park is my visits to the
pool and Dad and Puppy time here at home. ♥ They are happy with this arrangement and so am I. I stay for a couple of
hours and although there were 5 small individuals at the pool again today, I
was able to float in the areas where they weren’t.
Hey, we
all love kids (I think) and I’m happy to see them enjoy themselves with Mom and
Grandma as long as I can have a private corner to my own thoughts. They were
loud, as children are, but well-controlled when necessary. Kudos to their
care-givers. As I was leaving, Jan, from across the road arrived and we laughed
about how yesterday we didn’t know we were neighbours.
Bill and Gibbs were doing just fine without me and the Suite temperature had just recently caught up to the outside temps. It’s 4:30 so we figure that will change once the sun goes down and we can open windows. It was only 91F/33C today and dropping down to 86F by 7 pm. That will be a nice relief right there and with a low of 59F tonight, we’ll sleep well again. π
This is how we relax on a hot day
in our home
For
supper, we had barbecued chicken thighs rather than using Rosy. They were 75%
thawed in the freezer so time to eat them up. We had divided the 18 burgers
that we bought at Sam’s Club into meal lots, 2 per package. That turned out to
not be a great idea. They would have stayed frozen longer altogether, however,
there wasn’t room in the freezer to do that.
It was an okay supper tonight
It's weird cooking veggies on the bbq though
This
morning, Bill bbq’d 8 of them because they were mostly thawed too. ☹ They can be refrozen (although we can’t do that) in cooked state but
they can also be warmed up for a couple of meals on the road. We’re going to
get through this, come hook or crook and we’ve made a few ‘tentative’ plans for
our arrival in Ontario, Canada.
Dog park and remembering what grass is? π
He was very young when he got to play in it last
So, we
had chicken thighs, I had boiled cabbage and Bill had mixed vegetables all
cooked on the Weber. The Suite didn’t need to be heated up anymore when it was
just starting to cool down. I took Gibbs for a walk around the block to do his
business while Bill started the dishes. The breeze, once more, is wonderful and
we opened all windows around 7. This was a good day. We are doing our best to
save what freezer food we can and keeping fridge food cold.
Last year on this date, lots of grass here All the talk about spring, my irises were popping up all
over the place π
Good night y'all!
Thanks
again for your concerns!
Its nice to see that you left your problems behind you for a day. All of your issues will make for good bonfire talk another time but for now Im glad to see you take a break from it. Good luck with everything!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lorne. I guess it is what it is, suck it up and deal, right?
DeleteIt’s nice to know your break downs are fixable.
ReplyDeleteIs there little fuses that can be checked in different areas of the suite?
Somewhere I read that.
Happy you can enjoy the pool.
Have a safe travel homeπ€
Thanks Linda.
DeleteAll things checked and just the gfi breaker is the issue.
Love your positive attitude. It's nice to enjoy your last few days in the sun and warmth. It's trying to be spring here, slowly.
ReplyDeleteStill smiling at Gibbs. What a little happy guy.
Thank you Loree. We are trying!π
DeleteEven Gibbs is positive. ❤
Sounds like you are handling it well. What else can we do, right?? It just takes a little more planning when it comes to food. When you run out, you can EAT OUT!!!! Sending lots of good vibes that the repair guy can get it fixed today!!! It's funny that Gibbs is such a cuddle bunny!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, you are right about the food AND eating out!
DeleteGibbs keeps me sane in times like this.
You're doing well despite the heat! Fingers crossed there is something that can be done before you head towards the border to fix the refridgerator and freezer.
ReplyDeleteThank you Maebeme. We'll deal with the fridge at home. Have set up an appointment for when we arrive.
DeleteYou are doing a good job of saving your food. A suggestion for the Hamburger Patties would be to chop them into Chili or Spaghetti Sauces.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe and Enjoy the warmer temperatures.
It's about time.
Thank you Rick.
DeleteThe tip with the burgers is a good one, i told Bill yesterday that i might be doing that. π
Hope that you can get all fixed that needs to be fixed before you journey home. Gibbs seems quite enthralled with the water. Love the horse sculptures.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
