A Bit of Shopping, Nancy’s to Blame ♥

Yuma Lakes RV Resort

On Saturday, Nov. 19th we were up around 7:30 and Gibbs and I went for our walk around the west end of the park.

On the other side of the fence is a short road that leads into
a bit of a residential area

I don't usually go too far outside the park
and today we stayed on our side of the brick wall

When we returned home, I had tea with Bill and warmed up some of my baked oatmeal for breakfast. It is so good with a bit of cream and milk. Yum. Bill and had debated aloud last night whether to go to the Arizona Market today or to Sam’s Club. The latter won out and we left the Suite at 9.

I liked the way the sun rose
behind the trees
Even though the air is cool in the morning,
the sun is so warm

Gibbs needs dog food and Sam’s had it at the best price for a huge bag. That meant doing the mall shopping at Yuma Palms today as well since they were all in the same vicinity. I love Ross Dress for Less. Let me repeat that. I LOVE Ross Dress for Less. 😊  I always find something and can wander for hours through their clothing and accessories aisles.

I
Yay!
I found a pair of almost knee length black shorts
and a pair of slim denim blue capris
plus some lingerie aka undies
so we don't have to do laundry as often!
The joke about inside out just doesn't happen here!πŸ˜€

There is no store nearby that peaks Bill’s interest enough to get out and wander, so he parked and told me to go and take my time. I really don’t ‘need’ anything but not counting the winter we didn’t come down, my last 2 visits to Ross was where I found the most comfortable, light weight, inexpensive running shoes. Today, I wasn’t in need of any more shoes, I have a pair that is almost brand new still.

However, I’d been practical in my list of ‘wants’ in the store today. Within 30 minutes, (yes, because he was waiting, I kept tabs on my watch), I found the 3 things, had tried them on and was checking out for under $45. 😊 Happy camper. Their prices are so decent in clothes and shoes but not so in purses. At least not for me. I don’t buy name brand so although I want to replace a purse and a hat, that wasn’t the store to do it in.

We drove then to Hobby Lobby and this is where our friend, Nancy, comes into play. She probably knows what I’m going to say. She mentioned that Christmas items are on sale, 60% off, at H.L. and I knew I wanted to add a couple of new things to my already favourite decorations. Lightweight things that are easily packable and I found both immediately for under $25. 😊 What a deal! I don’t really BLAME Nancy, actually, I’m grateful for the tip! You'll have to wait until I decorate in a couple of weeks to see them.♥

Bill went to the hobby section and found himself a couple of models to occupy his time in the desert this next week. Both of us got great discounts. The market tents were set up along the strip but they don’t usually draw my attention so we avoided those altogether before driving across to Sam’s Club. We got the dog food, (38 lbs of it!) and a few food items that we knew we’d need over the next couple of weeks.

The drive to Mittry Lake BLM had some
pretty areas

We knew it was windy creating blowing sand
but until I saw my pictures, I didn't realize
how dusty it was

We’d been gone 2 hours so Bill suggested taking a drive further on Ave 7 ½ to Laguna Dam Rd to see Mittry Lake blm. A few people have mentioned this boondocking location to us, my sister being one, so we wanted to see it.

You should be able to see the washboard
effect in the roads
With our home full of our 'precious' belongings,
I would not like this with the Suite

It is quite a way back, further from town, and the gravel road in is very ‘washboardy’. Sure, it would be nice to be close to the water, but other than that, I didn’t find it tempting enough to take the Suite back. I’m glad we saw it but we won’t be going there at any time. πŸ˜‰

for those Boondockers who like privacy,
I doubt this would be the place for you
You are parked pretty close to the roadway in
most cases
I could be wrong!

Back home, we unloaded the few things we picked up and read until lunch time when I made omelets on toasted buns. They were delicious!

Now that we have beef burgers, that’s our supper plan tonight. The pool might have been nice today, my days up there are numbered, but the winds were gusty again today, over 14 mph, so I opted out.

Hard to tell in a picture,
but those tree tops are really blowing
We did reach 70F/21C but it felt cooler

Bill will still enjoy them

Instead, I baked Bill some of Kaitlin’s Pumpkin Snickerdoodles. Well, it was another ‘not great’ baking result but they taste the same, says my taste tester, so that’s a good thing. Not sure what I did differently.

Supper

Our cheeseburgers were quite good, but I found I didn’t have a huge appetite tonight. I never have a huge appetite but tonight, it was lacking. I ate ¾ of the burger and had to dispose of the last 3 bites. I was just too full! After loading the dishwasher, I worked on my post and then we sat with our books. Nothing on tv worth watching tonight so it was very quiet in the Suite. Even the dishwasher was quiet, as usual.

Finishing the day with a tired puppy dog
From doing what exactly? I'm not sure
but we all had a good day. ♥
Good night!

Note: I had a commenter once say how my blog posts can be out of order. Paragraphs and pictures not jibbing together. Today, is an example of what happens when I don't post the pictures until my writing speaks about them. Hmmm, I, personally, don't like a lot of narrative without pictures but thought I'd try it. Once.

A good day without much activity. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t hungry! Thanks for popping by! Your comments are always welcome.

  1. Sounds kind of like the nice slow day we had here in Quartzsite. Windy and a little cool. Glad you made it to Mittry Lake. Took the privacy away when they pulled us off the locations around the lake and corralled us in a small area.

  2. We also checked out Mitry Lake and decided it wasn't for us, for the same reasons as you.

  3. We feel the same way about Mittry Lake it would be fun to be by the water but the dust from the road would not be fun.

  5. I love Ross Dress for Less too! When cruising out of Fort Lauderdale, there was a store across the parking lot from the hotel I would stay at. Sadly, that hotel has been sold and the new owners haven't kept it up. When my friend S and I were in Vegas in Oct 2019 we found one on the strip and visited not once but twice. There is so much to see - I'm impressed you were in and out in 30 minutes!

  6. We agree about not taking the Trailers into some of those areas. You'd find half your belongings on the floor.
Be Safe and Enjoy the warmer temperatures.

    It's about time.
