A Short Week Begins, Still Summer Here!

The Ridge

On Tuesday, Sept. 6th I didn’t hear Bill get up to take Gibbs out nor did I hear him get up for work. I was in the midst of a strange dream; one I was happy to wake up from. It was 7 when I finally got up, just in time to say goodbye to Bill. Black Beauty was going back in to a shop in Hanover to get the alignment checked so Bill took her again today and Billy picked him up on the way to their job site. I didn’t have to clean so as soon as Bill left, I hopped in the shower. Our short work week has begun.

A nice day for a walk

The lawn and front boulevard look so nice after a cut

Gibbs and I went for a walk once my hair was dry and I could tell that it was going to warm up nicely. It was around 13C/56F but there was a clear blue sky and a beautiful sun to change those numbers. I had cereal with half a peach before making my coffee-to-go in my thermos. I drove around the corner to M’s shop for 9:30. I did a bit of taping and then sanding on an interior door for M’s own apartment this time.

Yummy quesadilla💓

We’ve got the front rental all fixed up, he wanted to do something for himself. 😉 I worked outside and soon felt the heat of that sun as it moved around to the southwest of his building. Back home, Gibbs was a quiet little greeter with no collar and so I let him outside to run around freely. He didn’t go far and we played chase the ‘toy’ (that’s what we call it) together for a while and then just relaxed in the sun and shade while I read my book.

Gibbs hears a car and runs to sit on the step
He isn't on leash or bark collar and he doesn't bark

Bill called about the results of the truck and now there is something else that is in question. LOL, all things regarding safe driving need to be addressed but when it is something we’ve never heard of, we need to follow up with caution. I also had a call from Kaitlyn (the Mat) and we caught up on things regarding machine repairs etc. For now, a weekly update with each other is a good thing.

When Bill was on his way home, he called for me to pick him up at Grey Bruce Fleet Services. He’d picked B.B. up and we were leaving it with Kate for them to check it over tomorrow. Gibbs and I met him there and we all drove home together after getting our 5-gallon water jug filled. It was almost 5:30 when we returned so he and Gibbs dozed and I was able to finish my book quietly beside them.

Such a good book! I enjoyed it a lot and have now added 4 more with the same character to my ‘Want to Read’ section on Goodreads. I just have to get my hands on the books. 😊 Supper was grilled sausages in a bun with ice cream for dessert. Mine was in a cone and we just had enough to give us each a taste. I’ll have to pick up more when it goes on sale.

A nice little meal
The sausages were great!

We washed the thermoses and Bill made his lunch. BTW, Gibbs has still got funny eating habits but is at least eating one really good meal a day, sometimes two. My program was on at 8 so I worked on my blog while watching it. This has been a nice day, warming up to 21C/70F. Summer hasn’t left us yet!

We had to share the little bit of ice cream
but it was just the right amount
Good night!

Thank you for taking the time to see what we’re up to today! Your comments are always appreciated.

  1. Another nice day for you. Sure hope the BB is okay to travel without further expense. Fuel will be bad enough. Luckily, I only need to drive the Jeep out with a trailer.

  2. Wow, you are so kind to share the ice cream. I would have quietly gobbled it down outside away from Bill and Gibbs. I like Gibbs little chair (or lounge?), looks so comfortable. I wouldn 't mind an adult size one myself to put on the patio. Sun looks nice and bright and I hope you have more summer weather before Autumn sets in. Have fun

  3. The property looks lush and pretty. Glad that Gibbs is shaping up and 45 days on the countdown clock! It's sure counting down fast it seems.

  4. Oooooh ice cream!! I've recently discovered if you drive slower, the fuel lasts much longer. Still trying to find that sweet spot with my truck. It's exciting to think about being back on the road. It's funny that Cooper and Gibbs seem to have the same eating habits. Now I just wait for him to go to the kitchen and bark.

    1. That's true about fuel. Our sweet spot pulling is around 63 mph. Without the trailer, we don't have one. For me it's about 90 km/hr.

  5. Your sausage on a bun looked like the bratwurst we had for dinner yesterday too. Mine had sweet green relish and tomatoes, Benno had caramelized onions and mushrooms with it. Love the photo over the pond with Gibbs in the corner.

    1. I ran out of sweet green relish so used hot dog relish instead.
Thank you Marlene. Pond pics are always a fan of mine too.

  6. Gibbs is definitely a smart dog. He's sure learned quickly.
Good luck with the truck repairs. It's good that you're getting it done well ahead of time of your travel.

    1. Thank you, Maebeme. It isn't taking Gibbs too long at all to learn things. Too bad he didn't get the 'no bark 'thing before the collar.

  7. I even lose track of what day it is, so I don't even think of short weeks!
